Meguro English publishes two kinds of pages: a free translation tool, and a small library of guides about Japanese, English, and translation. This page explains how those guides are produced and reviewed, so you can judge how much to trust them.
Who writes the guides
Guides are written by people who work with these languages directly, not generated and published untouched.
How a guide is made
- Drafting. An author drafts from their own working experience with the language pair, with concrete example sentences rather than generic advice.
- Review. A second person checks the Japanese examples, romaji, and English glosses for accuracy. Where a claim is a judgement call, we say so in the text.
- Editing. We cut padding. A guide is finished when it answers the question, not when it hits a word count.
- Updating. When we spot an error or the advice drifts out of date, we revise the page and change the “Updated” date on it. We do not silently rewrite history.
On accuracy and AI
We use writing tools the way most people now do, but no guide is published without a human author and reviewer who stands behind the examples. Translation output from the tool itself is machine-generated and is clearly framed that way throughout the site: useful for everyday text, and a first draft, not a final word, for anything where exact wording matters.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, tell us. Email [email protected] with the page and the specific issue, and we will fix confirmed errors and note the update on the page.
How the site is funded
The translator is free and stays free. We do not charge users, sell accounts, or put ads inside the translation tool. The site is funded by advertising shown on the guides and articles instead. That split is deliberate: it keeps the tool itself uncluttered while still covering hosting and upkeep. Advertising never influences what a guide says; the writing and the funding are kept separate.
