The first particles guide covered the five that mark grammatical roles. This set handles connection, range, and tone.
Connecting and listing
も (mo): also, too
Replaces は or が to mean "also". 私も行く (watashi mo iku, I'll go too).
と (to): and, with
Joins nouns exhaustively, or means "with". 犬と猫 (inu to neko, a dog and a cat).
や (ya): and, among others
Lists examples without claiming the list is complete. 本や雑誌 (hon ya zasshi, books and magazines, among other things).
Range
from, or because. 東京から (Tokyo kara, from Tokyo)
until, as far as. 駅まで (eki made, as far as the station)
Together they mark a span: 9時から5時まで (kuji kara goji made, from nine to five).
Sentence-end particles that carry tone
These sit at the very end and add feeling rather than grammar.
seeks agreement, like "right?" いい天気ですね (nice weather, isn't it?)
asserts or informs, adds emphasis. 行くよ (I'm going, just so you know)
turns a statement into a question
Why they matter
These small words are the difference between sounding like a textbook and sounding like a person. Once the role-marking particles feel natural, this set is what adds tone.
